“When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laughter broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.”
~J.M. Barrie
“More magical than I had dreamed, and more varied. Some are as small as flowers, some as tall as I, and all sizes between but all seem to exist as a celebration of nature’s enchantment. ” ~The Voyage of the Bassett
Absolutely another group of amazing photos.. Costumes are beautiful.. but everything about all these pictures, have such emotion.. Just love love love them all.. Beautiful, amazing, emotional, heartwarming, priceless… no words can describe them… a legacy left for your children forever, nothing more precious then that….
When we started this costume… we had full intentions to create a Peter Pan (I mean, they basically wear the same thing anyways)… but we decided that the antique arrow set made the perfect addition to his outfit… and we all know that Peter Pan only had a tiny knife to fight off Captain Hook and Robin Hood was the master of the bow and arrow. We tiptoed through the trees and my heart filled as I watched his magical imagination start to come to life. This wasn’t just a costume anymore… but a special memory that he can keep with him forever…
Absolutely AMAZING !!! I have been telling you all yesterday and today.. These pictures are “Priceless”… The emotion I feel when I view these is unbelieveable. They take you back to the time of Robin Hood, and you see the intensity, the emotion in his eyes, in his face, and in everything he does, the details of the costume, and the location too. We are seeing Robin Hood played “through the eyes of a child”… and “Absolutely Unbelieveable” is all I can say… Love love love, everyone of them.. Now have fun choosing one or 2, to have blown up in your home, because that is going to be a hard decision. Again, love your costume, and everything about the pictures.. <3 <3 <3 .. Thank you for sharing..
Looking forward to the rest of your pictures and seeing the girls costumes too… Have a blessed day <3
These are so beautiful and will be such a treasure when he is grown. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely fantastic. I’m blown away – and how much more special that the costume as made by hand, with attention to detail – love, love, love.
These are so very special – he will look back on these and have such good memories…and what’s more…know how very loved he was. Your photography just gets better and better! XO
As I walked outside this foggy morning to gather wood for our furnace… I was distracted by the beautiful heavy fog saturating our orchard trees. I quickly ran back in the house and asked the kids who wanted to run outside and take some pictures with Mama… the youngest raised her hand and jumped up and down. I ran to her closet… and had a hard time finding something “Winter-ish” that would work with the look I wanted to go for. So, I ran over to my fabric shelf and found something better. I used a 1/2 yard piece of white fur and told her to wrap it around her like a blanket (total cost: 6 dollars) and then grabbed a sprig of pip berries (.99 on clearance at Michaels craft store) and wrapped and bent them into a little halo. She looked like a perfect little Winter fairy. I grabbed my 7D and threw her on my back to walk through our back fields. Set her down in the damp grass under our crab apple tree for backdrop with a splash of red, and this is what I got from that beautiful morning
You never cease to amaze me
Looove!!

I am so excited to finally have some sort of proof of my progress in building this little blog. Technical stuff, so not my thing, but after 48 hours of straining my eyes in front of the computer, I have a blog post to publish. I still have so much to do to the website, but this works for now. And this way I can share recipes, tutorials, images, pieces of our day… and lots of other good stuff. … and host giveaways!! Yay!
So, here is my very first official blog post… My Sweet Pea, a late summer evening, plums, and chickens… a piece of our life in the country.
